TOWNS AND VILLAGES

Bezirgan is a traditional Turkish village that offers the chance to witness a way of life that has been untouched for centuries. Situated on a plateau 800m above sea level and18km inland from Kalkan, oxen still plough the rougher terrain and home-made flat bread is cooked on open fires.

Islamlar is situated in a cool, green valley in the mountains high above Kalkan. It stretches up the thickly-forested mountainside with its abundant natural springs. Islamlar boasts a rambling collection of wonderful old houses, a beautiful mosque and an original water-powered flour mill. It is also famous for its trout farms and local restaurants whose speciality is – naturally – freshly-caught trout!

Kas is situated at the bottom of the Taurus mountain range, twenty-five minutes east of Kalkan along the dramatic coastal road. It is a charming town that offers wonderful shops and restaurants.

HISTORIC SITES
Xanthos, Letoon, Patara, Tlos, Pinara, Myra and the sunken city of Kekova are all within easy reach of Kalkan.
